Instead of designing a building, we focused on creating a space where people will feel good. A place they’ll want to call home. It really is that simple.

One of the key little twists of the design is that the buildings aren’t parallel. They are actually splayed. It means that the way the light hits the building and reflects is different. When you are looking out of your window, you are looking at the river beyond your neighbour on the other side, and not at them. That’s a subtle twist, but it’s very significant in terms of how those apartments will feel inside.

The shape of the building gives all of its residents a view of the river. It also creates these little urban rooms that give space back to the urban design, give space back to people. These green pockets work as islands of privacy on a lively promenade and shelters from the bustle of the city.

Ian founded Bogle Architects in 2012. Operating out of London, Prague and Hong Kong, the multi-award-winning architecture studio is engaged in a wide range of projects across more than 20 countries.
The practice’s philosophy is based on the clarity of thought, wide engagement and a collaborative design process to realise a common goal, always striving for simple design solutions to resolve the complexity of any project.
“I’ve lived in London for half my life. I live on the river, and I know how that riverside living actually works. And to actually be able to design it in this particular location, and taking the essence from what we know about London and the London design riverfront, I think that’s what we are giving back to Bratislava.“
